Objective

The main objective is to contribute to an effective and coordinated assistance to migrants in large migration flows and health-related crises.

Specific Objectives

  • To strengthen the efforts of the relevant Mexican stakeholders working on migration, and to act according to predefined procedures on assistance to migrants in large migration flows.
  • To support the INM to better attend and communicate with migrants during health-related crises, considering sex, age, ethnicity and impairment, among other factors.

Activities

  • Activity 1: Fact-finding assessment
  • Activity 2: Launch of the Protocol on attention to migrants in large flows in Mexico and its Action Plan
  • Activity 3: Creation of a training module on the Protocol on attention to migrants in large flows in Mexico and its Action Plan
  • Activity 4: Tools to improve attention to migrants in the INM regional offices during health contingencies, in particular the current COVID-19 crisis
  • Activity 5: Workshops on assistance to migrants during a health contingency: EU MS perspective
  • Activity 6: Closing event and presentation of the INM guidelines and communication materials

Results and outputs

  • Training Module on the Protocol of Assistance to Migrants in Large Flows in Mexico for INM officials.
  • Communication elements and tools to provide relevant information to migrants in case of health contingencies, with a focus in the current COVID-19 crisis.
  • Guidelines to be applied in the INM regional offices to improve assistance to migrants during health contingencies, with a focus on the current COVID-19 crisis.
