Objective

To contribute to the improvement of migration management and policies in Tunisia through institutional reform and capacity building, in particular in the field of evidence-based policies. 

Activities

Activity 1:  Comprehensive institutional assessment of the priorities and needs of the Tunisian Migration Observatory, and Tunisian data and information management system

Activity 2: Information session on the collection of migration-related data 

Activity 3: Workshop on the determination and formulation of specific migration-related indicators

Activity 4: Workshop on the functioning of a migration observatory and migration data management

Activity 5: Study Visit to one EU MS country to exchange information and learn from good practices of an existing National Migration Institution

Activity 6: Training on project preparation (identification and development) and project monitoring and evaluation

Results and outputs

Results

  • Identification of the institutional needs and priorities of the new ONM for short-, medium- and long-term perspectives 
  • Preparing the ground for implementation of the upcoming EU-funded Programme on border management and international protection supporting the implementation of the Mobility Partnership between the EU and Tunisia 
  • Recommendations on improving migration information management are provided to the national entities during each activity
  • Stronger inter-institutional cooperation, coordination and partnership on migration data among various governmental and non-governmental institutions
  • Sustainable institutional tools on various migration data management aspects are developed with the support of the experts and by the relevant authorities
  • Improved capacities and skills to produce more accessible conclusions and readable studies and report for the general public
  • Enhanced capacities and skills on fundamentals of project proposal writing and management, especially those to be submitted to the EU.
  • Policy and operational procedures implemented by the selected EU MS national institution are explored and assessed by the Tunisian representatives.
  • Enhanced capacities and skills on fundamentals of project proposal writing and management, especially those to be submitted to the EU.
  • Cooperation among Tunisian and European agencies involved is strengthened and contacts.
