Cabo Verde I

For the first Action in the country, MIEUX supported the Cabinet of the Prime Minister in setting up a consultative process involving different national authorities, academia and NGOs that would lead to the development of the draft National Immigration Strategy and National Action Plan.

Working between 2009 and 2013, the MIEUX team deployed several European and local experts to assess the migratory context as well as challenges and opportunities migration management and policies. By sharing practices and working collaboratively with all of the stakeholders, the National Policy came to fruition in 2013.

The Government set up the Immigration Coordination Unit composed of 16 institutions to sustain the efforts of this Action and be responsible for the Action Plan.
