Description
Rwanda has been achieving constant economic growth in recent years, despite social and economic challenges. The country has put forth significant efforts to improve its border management system, but still faces challenges in combating trafficking in human beings (THB) and smuggling of migrants (SOM).

On the basis of a previously established collaboration the Directorate-General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE) requested technical assistance to enhance their capacities to investigative and prosecute migration-related crimes and improve their knowledge on after-entry migration management.

In addition to reinforcing their knowledge and capacities in the aforementioned topics, the capacity building activities focused on the development of a training handbook for the investigation and prosecution of migration related crimes. With the support of MIEUX experts, the DGIE officers participated in a training of trainers and replica training, enhancing the institution capacities to deliver the training after the completion of the project.
