Description
Migratory movements that affect Niger as a country of origin, transit and destination are in part influenced by instability in bordering countries, internal conflict in certain regions, periodic droughts and flooding, and the establishment of ECOWAS free movement area.

To address these challenges, the Ministry of Interior of Niger requested support from MIEUX in 2015 to contribute to the development of the National Strategy to Counter Irregular Migration and strengthen the capacities of the Nigerien authorities to deter this phenomenon with a view of improving migration manageme while reducing irregular migration.

The National Strategy to Counter Irregular Migration in Niger was drafted by the Nigerien authorities with the support of the MIEUX experts following an inclusive approach. The Action also facilitated teh exchange of national bodies with representatives from the various regions.
