Capitalising on digital tools and non-governmental organizations engagement to counter trafficking in human beings in Azerbaijan

Our ongoing Action in Azerbaijan, which has started in October 2021, aims to tackle the challenging topic of Trafficking in Human Beings by bringing together government authorities and civil society organisations to exchange practices and benefit from EU expertise on the matter. The scope of the Actionis two-fold: first, it will strengthen the capacity of national authorities to counter Trafficking in Human Beings through digital tools and social media channels. Second, it will contribute to the engagement and coordination of relevant non-governmental organisations and public institutions.

Fighting against trafficking in human beings in Mauritius

Together with experts from Bulgaria, Denmark and Estonia, the MIEUX+ team undertook the onsite component of the capacity and training needs assessment in the framework of the 2nd MIEUX Action in Mauritius. This project will focus on strengthening the capacities of government officials working on combatting trafficking in human beings (THB), through the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) aimed at enhancing the identification, referral, investigation and prosecution of THB cases.

Protection services for Victims of Trafficking in Jordan: MIEUX presents Standard Operating Procedures

On 10 and 11 November 2019, the Migration EU eXpertise Initiative, funded by the European Union and implemented by ICMPD, will present the “Guiding Principles for Shelters Working with Victims of Human Trafficking” resulting from its latest Action in support to the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. These guiding principles will act as Standard Operating Procedures for two shelters in Amman providing Victims of Trafficking (VoT) with accommodation and first-line services.

Rwanda: launch of second Action

11 November 2018

On 30 October, MIEUX was in Kigali to launch an Action supporting the Directorate-General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE) in investigating and prosecuting cross-border crimes within a migratory context, such as smuggling of migrants and Trafficking in Human Beings, as well as improving the knowledge of Rwandan authorities on after-entry migration management.
