The MIEUX+ team designed and rolled out a tailor-made training course on international migration with the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX) in Yaoundé in April 2023.

At the end of October, MIEUX+ organised a simulation exercise for the staff of the General Consulate of Georgia in Bari, Italy, to improve their knowledge of crisis management response and disaster preparedness.

Our new project in Uganda brings together local government and civil society organisations to mainstream migration into local urban planning, in light of the country’s rapid development and urbanisation. We officially launched the Action on-site with our partners, representatives of the EU and experts from Finland and Sweden.

The first regional project was launched in June 2022 in the Gran Chaco region, the second biggest biodiversity and forest area after the Amazon rainforest. The Action brings together 10 partners from various sectors aiming at finding solutions that would contribute to an effective and coordinated management of environmental migration.

MIEUX+ has launched its second Action in Kazakhstan to support the Human Rights Commissioner and civil society partners in their endeavour to promote the rights of migrant children and their families in the region of Almaty.

In this interview, first published in MIEUX's Annual Report 2017, he discusses his involvement in the MIEUX Action assisting the Government of Costa Rica in drafting the second phase of the National Integration Plan.

Today, the Costa Rican Directorate for Integration and Human Development (DIDH) under the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners (DGME), the European Union Delegation in Costa Rica and the Migration EU Expertise (MIEUX) Initiative joined a selection of participants from national and local governmental institutions and civil society in San José for the launch of the new National Integration Plan (NIP) 2018-2022.

The Immigration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs presented the new National Migration Policy of the Republic of Sierra Leone, drafted with support from MIEUX, on 12 October 2017.

MIEUX Project Officer, Ms Caterina Torchiaro, and the EU Delegation to Sierra Leone joined the presentation in Freetown and participated in debates with relevant stakeholders about how to implement this policy from now on.

Between 18 and 22 September 2017, MIEUX organised a study visit for a delegation of four Costa Rican officials from the Ministries of Labour and Social Security, Public Education and the Directorate for Integration and Human Development (DIDH) under the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners (DGME) to Madrid and Barcelona (Spain). This activity is part of the six-step action designed to support the Costa Rican Directorate General for Migration and Foreigners (DGME) in developing its second National Integration Plan (2018-2022).
