Description
Jordan is a country of both emigration and immigration flows and its economic development is tightly coupled with the dynamics of mobility. When it comes to data on the immigrants residing in Jordan, the figures were relatively outdated (census of 2004) when the Department of Statistics requested support from MIEUX.

There was then a general need for more reliable data on emigration flows and Jordanians abroad, particularly in the Gulf countries. This first Action in the country aimed at supporting the current efforts of various Jordanian agencies dealing with migration to set up an inter-institutional coordination mechanism on migration (covering also data management) and to strengthen the inter-agency cooperation.

This Action resulted in the development of a sustainable institutional tool on various migration data management aspects as well as a strong inter-institutional cooperation on migration data among various governmental and non-governmental institutions.
