Objective

To foster effective inter-institutional cooperation among countries of the Ibero-American area in the fight against Trafficking in Human Beings and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM) by supporting (logistically and content-wise) the annual meeting of the Ibero-American Network for International Legal Cooperation specialised in Trafficking of Human Beings that will take place in Cartagena, Colombia, in September 2017;

To support the drafting of a revised version of the 'Protocol for Inter-institutional Cooperation to Strengthen Investigation, Attention and Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Persons among Ibero-American Public Prosecutor’s Offices AIAM-REMPM', so as to include SOM.

Remote support to the revision of the Protocol for Inter-institutional Cooperation to Strengthen Investigation, Attention and Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Persons among Ibero-American Public Prosecutors’ Offices AIAMP

Activity 2

Support to the Annual Meeting of the Ibero-American Network of Public Prosecutors’ Offices Specialised in Trafficking in Human Beings.

Results and outputs

Results

  1. EU MS, Latin American experts and Public Prosecutors of the Ibero-American region exchange good practices on best ways to address THB and SOM, especially on joint investigation teams, the fight against SOM, establishment of evidence for trafficking and smuggling crimes and provision of remedies to victims of trafficking.
  2. Public Prosecutors of the Ibero-American region taking part in the Network gain a deepened understanding of the obligations and tools deriving from international treaties in the field of transnational cooperation on addressing THB and SOM.

Outputs

  1. A revised version of the Protocol for Inter-institutional Cooperation to Strengthen Investigation, Attention and Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Persons among Ibero-American Public Prosecutors’ Offices AIAMP-REMPM.
  2. A Commitment Act to further deepen cooperation among Public Prosecutors, including through a revision of the Protocol.
