Description
Mozambique is a sizable country, with more than 53 border posts and significant transport corridors linking landlocked countries, such as Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi, to major sea ports and South Africa exist. In this context irregular migration especially to South Africa is a key challenge facing the national authorities.

The Ministry of Interior requested MIEUX’s technical assistance to support them in improving the overall knowledge and sensitivity of Mozambican officials to modern migration management and strengthen capacities in border management and document security.

Training on modern migration management systems and methods was organised for middle management officials and  border officials in Beira and Pemba participated in a training on Border Management and Document Security. The knowledge acquired during the training sessions were also complemented by a study to visit Portugal during which the officers were able to exchange experiences.
