Description
Migration management in Moldova is mainly defined by the large number of Moldovan nationals abroad: around 25% of Moldovans have therefore been registered as having migrated abroad. Emigration from Moldova is largely driven by unemployment and lack of job opportunities in the country, low salaries, poverty and the standing challenge posed by the separatist region of Transnistria.

For this third MIEUX Action in Moldova, the General Inspectorate of Border Police (GIBP) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) requested support to focus on communication on irregular migration.

The Action contributed to enhancing the understanding of communication practices and techniques, including crisis communication related to migration, and to raising knowledge in this domain for communication officers/press units of the law enforcement agencies. It has also contributed to strengthening practical skills on MIA external communication, specifically in relation to civil society and media representatives.
